Sergio Smith

Welcome to a new year, 2024

I have relaunched the website with plans to add a podcast shortly.  I am working on some new materials to expand on different doctrines to shed light on how scripture and revelation have supported our beliefs.

Check out my PROJECT page and follow along as I add to each week's discussions.

Current Research Projects

A Running Commentary
1 Nephi

1 Nephi 8 "Another Fold"

This is a running commentary on the Book of Mormon beginning with 1 Nephi.   After sharing personal insights on 1 Nephi with friends, I had numerous request for copies of my work.  I intend to write from my own educational background within Protestant/Catholic theology, Judaic studies, and Cultural theology.  The goal is to approach The Book of Mormon through different lenses in an attempt to gain a deeper understanding and to create dialogue.

Topical Research Papers

The Holiness Code - God's Commandments

Available Now

This section will be a topical approach to the scripture.  Currently, I am writing within the theme of Restoration.  This approach will be used to highlight the theme of Restoration throughout the Old Testament & New Testament.   I will incorporate sources contained in the Old Testament, New Testament, Book of Mormon, Talmud, Apocrypha, Dead Sea Scrolls, and additional Christian, Judaic, and Mormon religious resources.

I recently added additional studies aimed at deconstructing Protestant/Catholic theology as

points of departure toward Mormonism.

Future Projects

May 2022+

Future projects will be announced in this section.  The idea is to gain input from blog followers.  From these suggestions, the intention will be to address concerns, look into additional topics, add to current topics, or simply create a space for discussion.

Future Channel on Patreon.com I will be producing new videos and hosting them on Patreon, I will keep everyone informed once the channel is up and running.  The videos will be in English and Spanish!

Additionally, I am in the process of translating my work into Spanish and will be hosting the new Spanish studies at www.EstudioMormon.com These studies are intended to highlight different aspects of Liberation Theology and Cultural theology within the Book of Mormon.  I am really excited about this project!

Please continue to send your suggestions and thanks to everyone for their support and prayers, I am humbled by everyone who has taken an interest in my writing, thank you.

I am currently writing my conversion story for all those who have asked.  I often mention that God was at work in my life for many years changing me, making me Mormon.  I often say that I was Mormon before I knew any Mormons.  God revealed His church to me at a time in which I had disavowed Protestantism.  One day I realized my beliefs were distinctively different from the Protestant/Catholic theology I was being taught at the Univerisity, yet to my surprise, my beliefs were distinctively Mormon.  My writings serve as an example of how my perspective on theology served as a point of departure toward Mormonism.  Within my writing, I give glimpses of my testimony but eventually, I will write the entire story for everyone. Hang with me.
